Morning Scripture
“Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.” ’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.”
Matthew 26:17-19 NKJV

“On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you?” “As you go into the city,” he told them, “you will see a certain man. Tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus told them and prepared the Passover meal there.”

Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Jesus, help us to remember that you will give us specific directions. Remind us that you will guide our steps if we listen. Father, grant us discernment to hear your voice in the midst of all else. Help us to be still so that we know and feel your presence. Father, we need you and desire to hear your voice as you order our steps. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Morning Scripture
“When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?” He answered and said, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.” Matthew 26:20-23 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.26.21-23.NKJV “When it was evening, Jesus sat down at the table with the Twelve. While they were eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.” Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn, “Am I the one, Lord?” He replied, “One of you who has just eaten from this bowl with me will betray me.” Matthew 26:20-23 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.26.20-23.NLT |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father, thank you. Thank you for showing us Jesus’ graciousness in the middle of betrayal. Father, thank you for reminding us to be aware but not cruel; to be conscious of who is in our circle, but not exclude. Thank you, Lord, for perspective. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Hmmm. Transparency… I didn’t know what this prayer would be until I was typing. But as I look over the prayer, I am aware of a few things. 1). Jesus knew the prophecy must be fulfilled. He did not stop what he knew was coming. 2). Jesus did not blast Judas in front of the other disciples. In some respects Jesus allowed Judas’ actions to speak for him. Maybe that’s what we should do sometimes instead of “putting people on front street.” Let them show their own hand to others. 3). Jesus continued his meal with Judas. Maybe that’s a message for me. I generally will not have a meal with those who I know are my enemies. Maybe I need to have more patience with people and allow them to see me and possibly learn something new about me. I don’t know. Maybe I’m supposed to learn something about them. I don’t know. I just know that Jesus could very well have put Judas out but he didn’t. Something that truly makes me think. Have we displaced people in our lives too quickly?? What about you??? |

Morning Scripture
“The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Rabbi, is it I?” He said to him, “You have said it.”” Matthew 26:24-25 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.26.25.NKJV “For the Son of Man must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for the one who betrays him. It would be far better for that man if he had never been born!” Judas, the one who would betray him, also asked, “Rabbi, am I the one?” And Jesus told him, “You have said it.”” Matthew 26:24-25 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.26.24-25.NLT |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Thank you for being willing to fulfill the prophecy, even though you knew of the betrayal, you knew that a friendship would be destroyed, and you knew that a life would be lost. Thank you for your spoken words that remind us to examine ourselves and our choices. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise. Amen. Amen. Amen. More wonders…. We always seem to believe that Judas just responded to Jesus as he was speaking about the betrayal. But the NLT version uses the words ‘also asked.’ And I realized that we don’t know who else was speaking after the announcement of betrayal. We don’t know who else was amazed at the accusation. Sometimes we only want to point out the elements of the story or events that are the most dramatic. But sometimes the rest of the action is just as necessary to understand the rest of the relationships. What did his comrades say to Judas before and after this revelation? I’d love to know would you? And on the other hand, my mother always says, “The first hen to cackle laid the egg.” So…. Judas??? LOLOL |

Morning Scripture
“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:26-28 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.26.26-28.NKJV “As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.” Matthew 26:26-28 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.26.26-28.NLT |
