Yet, though He slay me...
“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.”
Job 13:15 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/job.13.15.NKJV
“God might kill me, but I have no other hope. I am going to argue my case with him. But this is what will save me—I am not godless. If I were, I could not stand before him.”
Job 13:15-16 NLT
https://bible.com/bible/116/job.13.15-16.NLT
Father God, hear our cry; hear our prayer. Thank you for a Word and a prayer that reminds me that although everything around me seems too much to bear, you are my salvation. Even with everything else - I will trust you. Because you are my hope. I will trust you. Because you are God. I will trust you. Because you have promised me tomorrow. Thank you, Lord, for every time your Word and your People remind me that you are an ever present help. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus’ name Amen.

This was the scripture this morning during my church’s morning prayer call. My spirit immediately said "YES!" As I started writing the prayer, all of my words (and thumbs) kept getting jumbled. When I started writing the scripture for the website, I realized that the two go together. But God! One scripture (Job) says it doesn’t matter what I'm going through, I will continue to trust God. The other scripture (Psalm) tells me why I should trust; because it says even though I walk through what seems like death I don’t have to fear because God is with me. Yes, Lord and Amen. I hope the comfort of these words wrap themselves around you like they did me and bring you peace in the midst of today’s trials. Glory. Hallelujah. Amen.

How do you react when faced with disappointment?
Two things…. (1) one of my Bible commentaries pointed out that the Scripture does not tell why Cain’s sacrifice was rejected. And I paused. We are taught that the sacrifice was rejected because it wasn't Cain’s first fruits. But, here, the scripture only says it was rejected. Then, God asks Cain to examine himself, to do what is right, and to be mindful of his reactions.
Sometimes we believe we have given our best and the results are not to our liking. And we become angry or dejected. But what comes after that? Do we do what the Scripture says and examine ourselves and do better? Or, do we allow our hurt feelings to dictate our reactions? It is so very true, that when we are hurt we often lash out. Sometimes, the anger is about what just happened and sometimes it is about all that has happened. But God tells us in his Word, that “sin lies at the door” waiting to trip us up. We must guard our hearts and our emotions, so that the enemy does not control us when we are at our weakest.
And as I wrote this I heard, ‘It is a weak man that strikes out in anger." A man of strength thinks before he speaks. (MyDaddy used to say this all the time.)
And (2) God didn’t say Cain’s offering was wrong. He said “Do Better.” Isn’t this what we tell our children when they don’t succeed on the first try. “Pick your head up. You are just as good as the other guy. The next time you just have to do better.” Isn’t that what we tell ourselves when we don’t get the job the first time. “No worries. I won’t let y’all steal my joy. I’m coming back and I will be better.” Hmmmm, everything my parents used to say really IS in the Bible. LOL Have a GREAT one.
Father God, thank you for reminding us to search ourselves to do better. Sometimes, we are wrong and sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. But, our disappointment when we don't receive may be our opportunity to do better. Do better in relationships. Do better in our choices. Do better -Work harder. Maybe you have something better for us on the other side of this struggle. Father, thank you for this joy of revelation, that - in you - we always have an opportunity to Do Better. In Jesus' name we pray and shout victory. Amen.

It's not about the "giving up...."
So let me explain….
Today marks the beginning of the season of Lent. I can’t truly explain “Lent,” except people all around are ‘giving up stuff’. It’s like fasting that many people participate in during January - people giving up food stuff. And, I admit I participate in the January fast.
But this scripture confirms and clarifies things for me. This scripture does not say that we shouldn’t participate. But it signals for us to think about why we are doing it. The actions alone of self-denial will not save us. We should focus on our faith and Our Jesus. And as we grow closer to him, we can begin to see the direction He wants for our lives.
Yes, He wants us to be healthy, to be whole, to be loving - all those things we focus on during Lent and times of fasting. But while we are giving up stuff, don’t forget to embrace time with Christ. Pray more instead of eating chocolate or Coke. Read more, spend time with family, or work on that project God has been whispering about instead of playing on the cell phone. Or get some rest - rejuvenate - instead of watching reruns of “ Living Single.” (Yep, that one’s for me). Focus. He’s waiting ….
Father, thank you for a timely Word. Guide us and help us as we focus on this season of Lent and other times of fasting. Help us to focus not on what we are “giving up” but on what we are focused on - gaining a better understanding of who you are and where you are taking us in 2020 and the rest of our lives. Glory Hallelujah. Amen.

How do I "be content"?
On A Personal Note:
I must admit when I read this scripture, I wonder if I am supposed to be ‘content’ with whatever is going on with me. It is easy to be content when things are well (abundance). But when life is scarce with sadness, pain, loneliness, loss, or __________, we feel far less than content. But the scripture wouldn’t let me go this time. The Whisper kept urging me to read closer. And as I read all of the scriptures together, and not in isolation as we often hear them, my heart began to hear - that God is in the midst of all things. When we have a little or when we have a lot, in our low times and in our good times, Christ gives us strength. When we rely on Christ, when we ask for his strength, and when we have faith that He will provide our needs - we can be truly content. It doesn’t mean that life is easy, it simply means that we have to look upward for our strength. But most important, when we focus on our circumstance instead of Christ, we often miss the joy in the situation, the lesson to be learned, and the testimony of God’s glory to share with others.
Father, help us to see beyond the circumstance and feel Your Word in my heart. Thank you, Lord, Amen.

Spiritual Warfare and Strongholds
A couple of things
My sister said to me years ago that what I was going through was spiritual warfare. I didn’t understand. I didn’t understand that the devil was using my circumstances to steal my joy, my spirit, and my purpose. And, I must admit, it took years to gather my strength back. And in some instances, all aspects have not returned. But I have learned (am still learning) to be grateful for the experience - the experience of knowing that God did nothing leave me; the experience that He would restore my dreams and His purpose; and the experience of our Faithful God, the peace of Jesus, and the Whispers of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
And
My good friend who is also a Pastor talks often about strongholds. Those things that shake us to our foundation as a person. Those things that settle in our spirit and refuse to let us be our true selves. Those things that impact so much that they try to worm themselves into our DNA and change who we are and the path of our life. . But thank God for his presence. God’s Grace and the blood of Jesus, can loosen any stronghold in your life. But we have to purposely pray and seek Christ to release us from our stronghold. Those things in our lives that are strangling our purpose should be cast out and our thoughts and desires aligned with God’s Word, purpose for our lives, and Christ’s Joy and Peace.
***************
My Lord, thank you for speaking peace into my spirit. Thank you for reminding me to cast out and separate from my spirit those experiences that draw me away from your purpose in my life. Continue, please, to allow me to recognize my strongholds and strengthen me to release them. Please, Lord, fill those spaces with your Joy and Peace. In Jesus’ name we pray and say thank you for revelations in the Spirit. Amen and amen.

The Greatest of These is Love...
The greatest of these is love - As I read these words this morning - my brain said - “it’s the greatest because it’s the easiest and the hardest at the same time.” And I stopped writing.
God’s love is pure and perfect and we relish in it. We enjoy every blessing, every bird’s song, every bright sunny day, every joy. We know that God’s love protects us through every trial and every deliverance. But the unconditional joyous love He shows us, we are expected to show others. It is easy to love when times are good and fun. It is harder to love when we are hurt, angry, sad, and lost from our center.
Yes. Love is the greatest. Because it challenges us and reminds us to see ourselves and each other as God sees us - created to love and be loved. We all want the joy of love, but we must also be willing to do the work of love.
Father, stretch your hand to our heart, we pray. We love the love you show us daily. Teach us. Guide us, to share that love, to love and forgive each other, to be patient and thoughtful, to be kind and courteous, and to be self-less not selfish. My Lord, thank you - for your peace and love - that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise. Amen

Love's Actions.....
The rest of the story…..
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”
I Corinthians 13:1-3 NKJV
https://www.bible.com/114/1co.13.1-3.nkjv
Can you imagine someone who speaks well, who sings well, who is truly smart and gifted, or who is always boasting about their lives and the things that they do? But when you watch them, their actions are selfish and self glorifying - they are not about love for each other or love of God. God has given us gifts and talents; but his ultimate gift is of LOVE. And He only asks that we share true love. Unfortunately, we are all guilty at some point in our lives. I have a friend who says to me on occasion - “That’s not Love.” Sometimes she is teasing. Other times she is dead on the money. We must continue to examine ourselves and our motives. So that we are sure that our actions and our gifts of purpose and knowledge are used IN Love, FOR Love, and TO Love - otherwise, we are simply making noise (a clanging symbol) and profiting nothing.
Father, in your love, guide us to share our best selves with others through Your Holy Spirit - in the truest form of Love. Direct our paths, so that our words and our actions have purpose, and we are not clanging symbols. We thank you also for our friend that calls us out and points us in the right direction. Thank you for conviction, a listening heart, and your Spirit that helps us correct ourselves. Lord, I thank you for all you’ve done and will do in each of us. Thank you, Lord and Amen.

Life's Race(s)
One last thing…. if we think of this race as one LONG race of life, we may defeat ourselves before we hit our stride. This is a series of races - some sprints, some relays, and some cross country. When we pray along the way. He will guide us to our pit stops, to those who have spiritual water for our journey, to those who have spiritual nourishment for our journey, to those who will give us spiritual rest for our journey. We are never alone in this race, He places earthly angels in our path. And always, the Holy Spirit is only a whisper away. Hallelujah - to Thine be the glory.
Wow! As I reread this - I see a presence running with us. Christ runs with us and sometimes he provides is with a running partner. Thank you, Lord, for always being there. And, thank you for our earthly running partners. Yes, Lord. Amen!!!

For Me, Too
“God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
Ephesians 1:12-14 NLT
https://www.bible.com/116/eph.1.12-14.nlt
********
We get so confused! We strive always to be the first. Many people through the years always recognized themselves as first, and when they did so, they determined that they were also the only or the more important. My mother used to say that first does not mean only.
In this scripture, Paul points out that the Jews were the first to receive Christ (v 12). Then he states that now that the Gentiles have heard the message of Christ and Salvation and now that they believe, they too will be given the promised inheritance (13,14). Christ did not come just to save the Jews, the salvation He brings is for all of us.
We need to re-evaluate how we think. Our communities - local, national, and international - remain divided because we choose to believe that one group of God’s people have more spiritual favor than the other. God’s forever plan was for all of us to live and worship together. If we allow the Holy Spirit, He will heal our hearts of division. We simply have to ask and want to be better.
Even on a smaller scale, we need to re-evaluate how we think. We de-value others who are not first. We make them feel less than equal or feel as if they don’t belong. Are members of our church family less than because they aren’t ‘original’ members? Do we dismiss those who joined later or recently? Do we not listen to their ideas? Do new members in our organization or work groups have less of a voice or opinion because “they just got here”? Amen or Ouch.
Our Heavenly Father does not create these divisions. We do. It’s time for us to value each other and our differences. The Holy Spirit has poured something of value into each of us and we miss that when we embrace separation and division instead of the unity of the Holy Spirit.
******
Father, give each of us peace in our hearts so that our hearts can heal. Then we can see and embrace the value of those different from ourselves. Amen.

Just a little clarity - The real struggle
“Before you Gentiles knew God, you were slaves to so-called gods that do not even exist. So now that you know God (or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world?”
Galatians 4:8-9 NLT
https://www.bible.com/116/gal.4.8-9.nlt
Just a little clarity….. I struggled with the words for the prayer this morning because there are so many words and emotions right now. This scripture is so powerful. So often situations in life make you feel like you want to live just one moment away from Christ, so you can say what you want, do what you feel, or act out for just a moment. Every now and then you want to “lay my religion down so I can tell you what I really think.” But why would we choose to turn backwards? Why would we allow some one or some emotion or some choice to change our life in Christ. Why would we want to fall back into behaviors and practices that kept us caught up, stressed out, angry, fighting, and hurting?
I’m still not sure if these are the right words. But Christ rose from the dead so that we could live in love and peace. When people and their actions cloud our mind and we think the best thing to do is go back to who we once were, stop, pray, and think. Jesus is our source. See Him and He is our way and our way back. He will provide us the strength to live through whatever the pressure and give us the peace to be okay along the way.
Thank you, Lord, for your prevailing hand, that takes the top of my head, turns it around, and points it firmly in the right direction. Glory Hallelujah and Amen.!!

Thank for, Father, for explanation. As I read this morning, I wanted more clarity and this is what I found.

After the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, they were reminded/taught the blessings and curses. Deuteronomy 27:26 states that disobedience to the law of God was a curse. The blessings followed in the following chapter.
Earlier in Deuteronomy, as the Israelites are being taught the law, Deuteronomy 21:22 & 23 states that if a man committed a sin worthy of death and he is hanged, that he is accursed of God.
Clarity. Now I understood. Paul cited Old Testament law so that the Galatians could understand that Jesus fulfilled the law. When he hung on the cross, he became accursed of God for us - the ultimate sacrifice. Therefore, we did not have to fear the law for eternal death. And Paul quotes again from the Old Testament when he quotes from Habakkuk 2:4, which states that the just shall live by faith.
Prayer:
Thank you, Father, for Paul, a teacher that reaches back to a place of familiarity (the law) to take us forward to a place of salvation (Jesus Christ). Thank God for Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray, learn, and celebrate. Amen.

“‘Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’ And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’”
Deuteronomy 27:26 NLT

““If someone has committed a crime worthy of death and is executed and hung on a tree, the body must not remain hanging from the tree overnight. You must bury the body that same day, for anyone who is hung is cursed in the sight of God. In this way, you will prevent the defilement of the land the Lord your God is giving you as your special possession.”
Deuteronomy 21:22-23 NLT

“Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.”

Thank for, Father, for explanation. As I read this morning, I wanted more clarity and this is what I found.

Chosen. Called. Purposed. Amen.
“You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I violently persecuted God’s church. I did my best to destroy it. I was far ahead of my fellow Jews in my zeal for the traditions of my ancestors. But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being.”

Morning Struggle
“About an hour later someone else insisted, “This must be one of them, because he is a Galilean, too.” But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.”
Luke 22:59-62 NLT
https://www.bible.com/116/luk.22.59-62.nlt
Morning! I so struggled with this one, because I see myself. My sister and I talked this week about a decision I should have made in college; but I was fearful and didn’t understand. And instead of seeking Christ’s guidance, I made a decision. And, now all these years later, the decision has come full circle. And this time I said Yes to the Lord. How far along on our journeys would we be if we sought the Lord in all decisions instead of making it up as we go?
Father, go with us, we pray. Guide our thoughts. Allow us to hear the whispers of your heart and the desires for our future. And, go with our children. Help them to filter out the noise of the world so that they can hear the desires of your heart for their future. We need you, Lord, to walk with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
One more thing. When Peter denied Jesus the third time, the scripture says Jesus turned and looked at Peter. We need to stop believing that God can’t see us slipping. He sees everything!! Glorious Omnipotent Lord. Amen

What are Your Next Steps??
“At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.””
Luke 22:45-46 NLT
https://www.bible.com/116/luk.22.45-46.nlt
When I read this scripture I was struck by one word that I had seen in this scripture, but had never paid attention to - grief. The scripture says that Jesus’ found the disciples “asleep, exhausted from grief.” And immediately, I remembered all the times I’ve cried myself to sleep when life goes wrong - heart ache, broken heart, grief, punishment - when I am exhausted from grief.
But those were not the times to sleep and be idle. Sometimes I would wake and still be sorrowful or angry - trying to plot my next move and barely prepared for what was to come. But when Jesus’ wakes the disciples to ask why were they asleep, He tells them to pray, so they will not give in to temptation. Jesus’ knew that there would be more to come and the disciples needed to be prayerfully focused.
When trials come and we are distracted by our troubles and our grief, do we pray for strength and guidance or do we let our tears, sorrow, or anger determine our next move? Do we seek revenge or destruction or pray for God’s ministering angels? Do we decide nothing else matters and remain in bed or in lifeless indecision or do we pray for strength and guidance? Do we rail at God because we don’t think He understands or do we pray for comfort and healing?
What are our next steps when we are exhausted from life’s grief. Jesus tells us in scripture two things. 1) Get up; don’t let this situation make you sleep your life away. 2) Pray; don’t let temptation guide your next steps. In other words, get up, seek the Father through prayer, and prepare yourself for your next steps in life.
My Lord Jesus, thank you for your guidance that charges us to pray through all of our situations. Even when we are sorrowful, you urge us to seek our Father. When we are most vulnerable, you charge us to seek our Father. Most importantly, you urge us not to wallow in our despair but to prepare in prayer for what is to come - tomorrow. My Lord, thank you for all things. In your name we pray and praise you, Amen.

There is no time limit on Hope
Glory!!!
“he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!”
Luke 13:11-13 NLT
https://www.bible.com/116/luk.13.11-13.nlt
First, let me apologize. I feel like the words in the prayer are all over the place. But when I read this scripture, my spirit became quiet then joyful. Because the scripture gave me immediate hope. Sometimes, we pray for years for some thing or some one, or to be added to something or to be removed from something. And when we feel like we don’t hear from God, we become disappointed and/or we give up. But the woman in this scripture had been infirmed for 18 years. (18 years - as long as it takes a child from birth to high school graduation.). But when Jesus saw her and called her to him, He spoke a few words and she was healed!
We get so caught up in how long we struggle. Instead of being caught up in the faith that He Can heal our heart and fix our struggle; He will do it, and He will be glorified. We look for relief for ourselves; but do we see opportunities to glorify God in and out of our struggles? Do we understand that when our healing comes it will be so that others can see the majesty of Christ? My friend says, “Keep knocking.” Keep the faith. Keep trusting. Keep asking Christ. Keep moving forward. Keep praying. Don’t give up. And, most importantly, know that He is listening and He answers prayer. Jesus Christ is our Hope. Glory Hallelujah.
Heavenly Father, thank you for Hope and for being our Hope. Amen.
PS. I think I’ve offended a couple of English teachers today and one other day this week with some run in sentences and dependent clauses. My apologies. ROTFLOL. Have a GREAT day. :-)

Things that make you go HMMM.........
People say “your eyes are the windows to the soul.” I always thought that referred to people seeing who you are ‘on the inside’, as I have always spoken with my eyes. But as I read this today, I am reminded that you also receive information with your eyes.
So what are our eyes receiving that feeds the light and the soul? Are we spending a lot of time on the computer/phone playing games and such? Are we watching hours and hours of television? Or are we building in time to read? Do we take time to study God’s Word and pray? Are we building in time to fellowship with others? Are we receiving information that builds us up?
Certainly, there are good things and purpose for cell phones, television, and other time-consuming activities. But do they have a purpose that feeds who we are and who we want to become? Do they feed the soul and create a brighter light inside of us?
As we move further into 2019, let us purposefully use our time. Let’s outline time the receive activities, including prayer and bible study, that feed our soul so that our light is fed and shines brighter day by day.
Father, thank you for reminding us that the stimuli our eyes receive are important because it eventually becomes part of who we are. Help us to pour more meaningful stimuli into our worlds so that we continue to become true reflections of who You have destined us to become. In Jesus’ name; Amen.

Mini Devotional - Missed Opportunity
“Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick.”
Luke 7:6-7, 9-10 NKJV
https://www.bible.com/114/luk.7.6-7,9-10.nkjv
Scripture says that Jesus was amazed at the centurion's faith. And when they returned to the house, the servant was healed. But what about the centurion? He had faith that Jesus’ would heal his servant. He did not express any faith for himself or for a healing for himself.
In the Scripture, at the centurion's request, Jesus is on the way to the his home, but is interrupted on the way. The centurion sends someone to say that he (the centurion) is unworthy for Jesus to come to his home nor to speak to Jesus himself. How many times do we get so wrapped up in and so ashamed of the things that we have done, that we don’t even feel that we can be forgiven? So we push that incident away from our memories, hoping everyone else will forget. We work double time so we can ‘make up for our mistakes.’ Or we just keep doing that same thing that we know separates us from God because we feel hopeless. We must always remember that our Father, is a forgiving God. All we have to do is release our pride and seek Him.
The centurion made two mistakes. First, he believed that Jesus’ mercy was only for the Jews and not for the Gentiles. His second mistake was believing that he was so unworthy, that he could not be forgiven or saved. Jesus loves all of us and wants us all to be saved. He asks that we confess our sins and give him our hearts. In this new year, let us not miss another opportunity to grow closer to Christ, to confess our sins, and release the shame that we are holding on to.
Thank you, Father, for your grace and mercy. Thank you for being an ever-present Father. Thank you for your forgiveness. Remind us, Father, to come to you in all times, to release our burdens of shame and hurt that we carry from past missteps and mistakes. Be with us, so that we do not miss another opportunity to seek your forgiveness and new mercies. In Jesus’ name we pray and shout Glory. Amen.

Mini Devotional - Prosperity
“So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.”
Luke 5:7 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/luk.5.7.nkjv
One more thing - prosperity is believed to be first or only about wealth. The actual definition begins with “a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition, …”. We can be successful, flourishing, or thriving in many ways that may have little to do with finances.
Do we sometimes have an abundance of understanding and support?
Are we sometimes flourishing in our jobs or abilities?
Do we sometimes have a few extra minutes of time?
These are a few examples of prosperity. Prosperity represents our abundance. And when we recognize our abundance - our prosperity - we should be like those in the boat and invite others to benefit. Recognizing our prosperity allows us to bless each other in God’s Kingdom.
What can we do in our prosperity (our abundance) that blesses someone else?

Mini Devotional - Stay Focused
“So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.”
Luke 1:80 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/luk.1.80.nkjv
WOW!! Sometimes we are sure of our purpose. We know our talents. We are aware that God is preparing us for something else, but we are unsure what that next step will be or how we will arrive. We keep praying and working; seeking confirmation.
As I read this scripture, I saw three distinct things.
**********
Glory Hallelujah. Father, we thank you that you are a sovereign Lord. Thank you for having order in all things - even when we feel like we are spinning out of control, you are in control. Thank you for reminding us to trust, for reminding us to stay focused on you, even though we may feel barren or lost. You have control of all things. And when it is our season, Father, our purpose will manifest, just as you have promised. In Jesus’ name we pray, praise and shout - Yes, Lord and Amen.
One more thing. As I was typing the prayer, I heard, maybe your purpose is to be in the wilderness, so that others may see God’s glory. Wow. Yes, Lord, and Amen.
- First, the scripture says John grew up and became strong in spirit. John did not stop praying and moving forward because his time had not come. He continued to learn and connect himself with God.
- Next, the scripture says John lived in the desert. There are many times in our lives that we feel like we are in the desert - barren promises, dry places in our lives, and aloneness that seems overwhelming. But the scripture gives no indication that John gave up or gave in to struggle or hard times. John lived and followed God’s direction even in the desert.
- We must also remember, that prophecy foretold that John would live in the wilderness. John’s wilderness experience became a part of who he was and a part of his testimony. Don’t let a wilderness experience derail you, allow it to be a part of who you are to become. Learn from every experience and see God’s glory in all things.
- Then, the scripture moves directly into the next phase of John’s life - his manifestation of purpose. We get so caught up in circumstances that distract us until we become sidetracked from our purpose. If we keep growing in God and stay focused despite the ups and downs of life, our purpose and our promises will manifest to the Glory of God.

Mini Devotional - Your dreams are NOT dead
“As Paul spoke on and on, a young man named Eutychus, sitting on the windowsill, became very drowsy. Finally, he fell sound asleep and dropped three stories to his death below. Paul went down, bent over him, and took him into his arms. “Don’t worry,” he said, “he’s alive!” Then they all went back upstairs, shared in the Lord’s Supper, and ate together. Paul continued talking to them until dawn, and then he left. Meanwhile, the young man was taken home alive and well, and everyone was greatly relieved.”
Acts of the Apostles 20:9-12 NLT
http://bible.com/116/act.20.9-12.nlt
So many of us have plans and dreams, visions for our future. Then life gets in the way. We have challenges that seem to derail or redirect us, and our dreams begin to take a back seat or ‘fall asleep.’ But Paul says, “Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.”
Do not give up on your dreams. If God gave you a vision, or you had desires for your future that seen dead or dormant, don’t worry, for there is life still in them. But you have to feed and nurture them. Scripture says that Paul and his crowd went to eat and continued on. You have to go back to school, make a plan and stick to it, write out your goals, do research, learn new things. Most importantly, get moving. Feed your dreams, involve yourselves in your dreams and allow them to become revived. Pray about it and begin working in it, because when before Paul departed, the boy was alive and they were greatly relieved. Your dreams may be at rest, but they are not dead. Your dreams may have fallen off the shelf, or even behind the shelf. Pick them up, dust them off, feed them, breath life into them - For there is still life in them.
PS. Paul continued on until dawn. We may have to work a little later than we want to. We may have to put some elbow grease into it. It is not going to be easy or quick. But when Paul departed, the young man was alive and well and the people were greatly relieved. When our dreams come to fruition, we, too, will be greatly relieved. GLORY!!!
****************
Father, thank you for such a glorious Word, reminding each of us that there is more to do, to gather ourselves and focus on the work you have for us for our lives, because your Word says, For there is still life in him.

One More Thing.......
“Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed. He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison. “Tell James and the other brothers what happened,” he said. And then he went to another place.”
Acts of the Apostles 12:16-17 NLT
http://bible.com/116/act.12.16-17.nlt
One of my good friend and mentor’s favorite saying is “keep knocking” and I immediately thought of him when I read this scripture. He says this to me for different reasons, but his voice this morning reminds us to keep moving forward on the God’s path.
Many times, the dreams in our heart can sometimes become stifled by life’s injuries - a failed relationship, a mistake a work, or a miscalculated decision. Each and any of these can cause us to step back and think “Is this really what God wants me to do?” But in this scripture, Peter refuses to stop knocking. Even when others are unsure. He is compelled to stay so he can share his joy of deliverance.
Let us each take a page from Peter. Keep knocking. Don’t be deterred by what others may do or things that may happen. If you believe that it is God’s will - keep praying. Keep knocking. Keep knocking so you can share your joy, your deliverance, and His salvation. Keep knocking. Because this is not your only stop in this journey. Thank you, Lord. Keep knocking.
Amen.

The Original Scripture & Prayer
September 6, 2018
““And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”
Joel 2:28-29 NKJV

““Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on servants—men and women alike.”
Joel 2:28-29 NLT
http://bible.com/116/jol.2.28-29.nlt
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Thank you for a promised out pouring of your spirit and for restoration unto you. Thank you for your promise that you will be with us and that your Spirit will overtake us. Lord, we want to be close to you and commune with your Spirit. We love you and we wait for you. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise you in advance. Amen.
Something to make you go Hmmmmm…
It should be noted that God has promised this out pouring of His Spirit to sons AND daughters AND MEN servants and WOMEN servants. Everybody, regardless of status, will receive the Holy Spirit- if you believe.
Father, remind us that your Spirit is for each of us, not men more than women and not rich over poor. Father, give us the spirit of love and not separation. In Jesus’ name we pray and plead. Amen.

One More Thing.......
““Yes, I know,” Boaz replied. “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband. I have heard how you left your father and mother and your own land to live here among complete strangers.”
Ruth 2:11 NLT
http://bible.com/116/rut.2.11.nlt
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things - for reminding us that even when we venture into the unknown, you are with us. Thank you for reminding us that we do not have to stay in situations, that we can strike out on faith to have better. Father, guide us and be with us. Help us make decisions that are in your plan for our lives; help is to learn to release trouble and embrace your joy in all walks of our lives. Father, there is joy in your Word, that tells us that when we strike out on a new adventure, you will meet us there. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise; Amen.
*********************
This prayer is not meant to encourage anyone to just leave a situation. It is meant to remind us that we do not have to be stagnate and to seek God in all things - especially new adventures. He will direct our path.
AND…. Scripture acknowledges Ruth’s kindness. Boaz tells Ruth that he has seen her kindness and willingness to come with Naomi. We must also be mindful of how we treat each other. My mother always said, “Be careful how you treat people, you never know who is watching.” This wasn’t a threat, but a reminder that kindness to others will be returned to you.
Father, pour into us your spirit, so we can be intentionally kind to each other. Not because we are supposed to, but because we want to. In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen.

So..... The breadth of our personal territory
“So this was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families: The border of Edom at the Wilderness of Zin southward was the extreme southern boundary.
The west border was the coastline of the Great Sea. This is the boundary of the children of Judah all around according to their families.”
Joshua 15:1, 12 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/jos.15.1,12.nkjv
(You should read all of it -
Joshua 15:1-12 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/jos.15.1-12.nkjv)
As I read Joshua 15: 1-12, I realized that the scripture defined the breadth of territory - north, south, east, & west. I realized that I had to stop and consider each of the borders. My mind said what an impact. Then the Whispers said, “Just like you.” I said, “Huh?” I realized that just as the nation of families spread across much territory, so does the influence of each of us. When we engage with each other, our territory enlarges; our boundaries increase. We may not ever know the impact of who we touch. But believe me, people still say to me, “You don’t know how what you did meant so much to me.” And I watch grown children run to my friends and say, “Thank you for who you are.” We cry out to God to enlarge our territory, but the essence of who we are and how we engage with others enlarges our territory, borders, and scope of the Kingdom each day. Just like He did for the children of Judah.
Father, as we receive your promises and continue to pray to enlarge our territories, remind us that who we are daily, is a map to You - the greatest territory of all. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
And the praise dance begins !!!

Reflections and Praise
““Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.
Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.”
Joshua 1:2, 6 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/jos.1.2,6.nkjv
As I read this chapter I am again reminded of the remnant - those left behind after times of struggle. Some left behind because of no other options and some left behind to build - To build up what has been torn down. Three times in this first chapter of Joshua, God says “Be strong and of a good courage.” (Joshua 1: 6, 9, 18) Verse 7 adds some variation - “Be thou strong and very courageous”. KJV. God has promised an inheritance and encourages us along the way. Hallelujah!! For those of us who are struggling with where we are and what we are supposed to do there - be encouraged by God’s words: “Be strong and of a good courage.”For those of us who are wondering what is our purpose: Be strong and of a good courage. And for those of us in various relationships: Be strong and of a good courage.
Father, thank you for your encouragement and comfort Thank you for your words that speak life when we falter or when we are discouraged. Mostly, thank you for your Word that is always on time. In Jesus’ name we pray, praise, and say thank you. Amen.
Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.”

What is Your Captivity?
“I will bring my exiled people of Israel back from distant lands, and they will rebuild their ruined cities and live in them again. They will plant vineyards and gardens; they will eat their crops and drink their wine. I will firmly plant them there in their own land. They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God.”
Amos 9:14-15 NLT
http://bible.com/116/amo.9.14-15.nlt
Unfortunately, we are all captive to something earthly - our fears, phobias, anxiety, jobs, broken relationships, past relationships - the list goes on and on. But God has promised us restoration from captivity. His Word states that He will return us to our rightful place, that even in the midst of what we see as ruin, He will restore life. We will bear fruit and prosper. We will be firmly planted in our positions, in our relationships, and in our selves. But we must first be firmly rooted in God. This promise is made for those who are willing to turn their lives back to God. Are we willing to let go of the earthly things that tether us and let God lead us? Although it is “easy” to follow God, it is still a challenge because we are earthly vessels. I pray that we all continue to fight and move forward from our personal captivities. I pray that we each have a the life that God promises - to plant, to eat, to be joyous in our lives with Him.
Father, thank you for your promises. Be with us on this earthly journey to your promised lands of plenty. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise. Amen.

The Rest of the Story -
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
PHILIPPIANS 3:13-14 AMP

God is simply amazing! He has reminded me several times this year to let go of those things behind and to face forward and face Him for there is more to come… HALLELUJAH!!
Prayer:
Father, thank you for forward. May we each step on the gas and race toward our future with You. Amen!!

- Recently, a very good friend of mine said ‘I’m finna stop beating myself up about what I should have done and what I’ve missed. I’m going to embrace what I have now and move on.”
- My mom and dad said “When you know better, do better.”
- My friend gave me a sign for my desk that says, “don’t look back, you’re not going that way,”
- Yesterday’s scripture reminded us that we are given an inheritance from God and we are heirs; then the prayer reminded us to focus on what we have, not what we don’t have.
- And for years I’ve asked why come and why not and last year, God reminded me.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for forward. May we each step on the gas and race toward our future with You. Amen!!

The Rest of the Story - a Mini-Devotional
“Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.”

“Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!”

Steps to Success
Do you have a dream or task that God has told you to pursue? Are you confused about what to do or how to begin? That's okay.
Give it to God so that He can bless it. He will lead you to research. He will lead you to people who have answers. He will send you to Wal-Mart where you run into someone who can help. He will show you the way.
And as He is preparing you, He will multiply your path beyond even what you can imagine. And you and others will be blessed on and for the journey.
So get moving on the mission, the work, school, the job, etc. He will move in ways we cannot imagine.
Prayer:
Heavenly and Gracious Father, thank you for all things - for making small dreams a huge reality and blessing. May we use what you have given us in the building of your kingdom. In Jesus' name we pray, praise, and say Thank you.
Amen.
- Jesus said... "Give 'this' to me."
- The disciples gave the small meal to Jesus
- Jesus blessed it and brake it
- Jesus gave it to the disciples to distribute
- More people than they could imagine benefited

“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. Mini-Devotional or Personal Confession...

Preparation or Worry?
Often when I highway drive, I work hard at knowing where the mile markers and signs are just in case something happens on the way. If someone in the family calls and doesn’t feel good, my mind works to figure out if I have to get there, how many ways and how soon could I get there. In fact, when my sister was ill, I counted my sick leave days just in case I needed to leave town. But is that preparation or is that worry? Sometimes I have so many scenarios in my head, I lose track of the real trouble - someone needs assistance. I have so many scenarios in my head, my head feels like one of those crime scene photo walls. And truth is, when the situation becomes urgent, many of those scenarios don’t work - and I still have to have a plan.
But what I remind myself to do is stop, breath, pray. This is what we should all do, before our mind gets cluttered. Our time in prayer and study is preparation for our situations. When we spend time in relationship with Our Father, He provides the comfort and guidance we need in all situations. We become clear that God can do all things in His time. Yes, I am a worrier and a planner. And preparation for everyday life is essential. However, if we do not also prepare for our spiritual life, we can often become bereft and confused when “life” happens. God provides us with mental, physical, and spiritual prowess. But do we use our abilities to fill our minds with what could happen or what will happen? Because what will happen is that God is able and He will provide.
Gracious Father, we come to you giving you our spirit(s) of worry and confusion, asking that you replace them with comfort and peace. Remind us that you are the author and finisher and that worry changes nothing. Allow us to spend time with you so that when “whatever” happens we are connected and shall remain connected to you. In Jesus’ name we pray and rest in the comfort of your arms. Amen

Amen

Mini-Devotional - Just a Note...
“What more could have been done to My vineyard That I have not done in it? Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, Did it bring forth wild grapes? And now, please let Me tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned; And break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.”
Isaiah 5:4-5 NKJV

“What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes? Now let me tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will tear down its hedges and let it be destroyed. I will break down its walls and let the animals trample it.”
Isaiah 5:4-5 NLT

We pour so much into our lives, organizing it just like we think we want it. Neat and organized just like we envisioned. Then nothing unfolds like we wanted it to. Maybe it's because the focus is “we” and not God? Maybe it's because we haven't talked with God about our desires and sought his guidance? Maybe it's because we’ve focused on “we” and not “thee” and not “others”? Maybe???
Father God, hear our prayer. Remove our personal blinders, Father, so that we may see the vineyard - the places that you have prepared for us, so that we may see the plan and path that you have readied for us, so that we may see and experience your love for us. Forgive us for being stubborn and proud. We look to you, Lord, we must look to you. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise you in advance; Amen.

Mini-Devotional - Caught Up
The Rest of the Story
“Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.” II Kings 5:9-10, 12 NKJV http://bible.com/114/2ki.5.9-10,12.nkjv |
“So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and waited at the door of Elisha’s house. But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.” Aren’t the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than any of the rivers of Israel? Why shouldn’t I wash in them and be healed?” So Naaman turned and went away in a rage.” 2 Kings 5:9-10, 12 NLT http://bible.com/116/2ki.5.9-10,12.nlt |
First, we have to know who Naaman was in order to know why he was angry. Naaman was the Captain of the Guard. (II Kings 5:1). He was an honorable and honored man and God was with him in battle. But he had leprosy. Can we all acknowledge that there are some wonderful things about ourselves. But can we also acknowledge that we have some issues. They may be large; they may be small. There may be many; there may be only one. But we all have something.
Naaman went to Elisha to be healed. And Elisha told him to go wash in the dirty river. Naaman was beside himself because he didn't think the solution was worthy of his problems. How many times do we ask God, and we do something else cause “this don’t make no sense.” Our pride allows us to miss God’s blessings. Our impatience allows us to not move forward in the victory God is preparing for us.
We are so caught up in ourselves sometimes that we really can't see what is missing in us or what we are missing. When we pray and ask God, we should also ask him to prepare us to see. We ask and ask, but are we always ready (or willing) to see what's in store? Are we willing to give up our pride, our bad habits, our _________ to hear and receive from God?
When Naaman’s servant said, If the prophet had said go do something great you would have done that. He has asked you to do something simple. What God asks us to do is simple. Love Him, love others. So many things fall away from us when we do these two things. It is easy to get caught up in ourselves, in who we think we are, and what we think we have. Instead, let's get caught up in God’s love and watch our healing begin.

Prayer
Father, you know our hearts intimately. Help us, to know you better, so those things in our hearts that should not be there - are removed. Help us to see that what you ask of us may seem huge, but when done in your name all will be well. We want to be caught up in you, not in our selves and our selfishness. We thank you, for our healing, point us in the direction that you would have us go. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise; Amen.

Mini-Devotional - Personal Struggle
“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV http://bible.com/114/gal.5.19-21.nkjv |
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 NLT http://bible.com/116/gal.5.19-21.nlt |
Prayer
Father, I see the behaviors that are poured from Your Spirit and those that are drawn from the flesh. Father, pour into me your Spirit and remove from me those of the flesh. Help me, Father, to release those behaviors that draw me away from you. Heal my broken spirit and my broken heart so that it can fully receive the joy of you. In Jesus’ name we pray and yield to the joy of you; Amen.

“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.””

"To repent means to stop going in one direction, to turn completely around, and to go in the opposite direction. Repentance involves a dramatic and decisive change of course."

As I listened to preachers yell “Repent” from the pulpit, striking fear into our hearts, Repentance sounded scary. But repentance is wonderful - it is a conscious and active decision to change the direction of your life, to give your life to Christ, and to allow Him to guide and direct your path.
The other thing I thought, after being scolded from the pulpit, was that only people who had not given their life to Christ had to repent. However, we must always be repentant. We must always evaluate our lives and behaviors in the light of who we should be in Christ, then change to reflect that we are children of God.
Be Repentant.
Be willing to hear God’s call.
Be willing to change your behaviors and direction.

“Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.”
Jeremiah 17:5-6 NKJV http://bible.com/114/jer.17.5-6.nkjv ““Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV http://bible.com/114/jer.17.7-8.nkjv |
“GOD ’s Message: “Cursed is the strong one who depends on mere humans, Who thinks he can make it on muscle alone and sets GOD aside as dead weight. He’s like a tumbleweed on the prairie, out of touch with the good earth. He lives rootless and aimless in a land where nothing grows.”
Jeremiah 17:5-6 MSG http://bible.com/97/jer.17.5-6.msg ““But blessed is the man who trusts me, GOD, the woman who sticks with GOD. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers— Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, Serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 MSG http://bible.com/97/jer.17.7-8.msg |
Wow. God shows us the immediate contrast. Those who trust in man shall be rootless and aimless. They can be tossed about. When we don't have roots and a firm foundation we often don't know where our strength really comes from and we struggle. We seek for things to comfort us and affirm us outside of Christ our Savior. And when that outside strength fails us, we become lost, hurt, and seeking.
In contrast, those who trust in God, have strength that we sometimes aren't aware of because our roots are deep. As we continue and seek, the power of God strengthens us. When there are roots we tend to weather the storms better; we seem to know where our foundation truly comes from. And when we seek, we continue to seek and stretch toward our source, our strength, our living water - Christ.
Thank you. Father, for being our strength. We turn to you for all things so that we may be rooted in your love and strengthened by your promise; Amen.

Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. So he arose and went.
And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.
Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” So Philip ran to him, .......””

Philip did not know what was in the desert when God said go. But he “arose and went.” Sometimes when God leads us, we feel like we are going through a desert- a dry place in our lives. But if we keep faithful, God will show us our purpose. In the desert, Philip pointed a soul to Christ. Philip was where he was supposed to be, even if he did not understand at the beginning of the journey.
Lead us, Father, through our barren land toward the glorious purpose you have for us. We trust you. Hold our hand and carry us, as we choose to walk with thee. Yes, Lord, and Amen.

“And I said to you, ‘You have come to the mountains of the Amorites, which the LORD our God is giving us. Look, the LORD your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the LORD God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.’”
Deuteronomy 1:20-21 NKJV

Deuteronomy 1:20-21 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/deu.1.20-21.nkjv
The Word says, "You have come to the mountains of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us."
1) The Amorites were known as fierce warriors who worshiped false Gods.
2) The land being given was mountainous - large elevations, hills; up-sides and down-sides; an up-hill climb.
3) The scripture says do not fear or be discouraged.
I realized that God may have been saying that it would not be easy, after all He was telling them that they could have land that was occupied by others. And, it was not an "easy" land; the territory would be challenging. It is well within His Will and possibility to lay our dreams at our feet; but some things He wants us to work toward, to engage in, to fight for. (In Education, we call this the productive struggle.) But we make the mistake of fighting with our own power. When we fight with the faith and hope in Christ - we study, learn, grow and mature in our relationship with Him. When we fight with the faith and hope in Christ, our battles can be won -and won BIG.
Glorious Father, thank you for all things, for every opportunity to lean into you. In Jesus’ name we pray and say thank you; Amen.
