Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father God, thank you for hearing my cry and call, a call for strength, courage, and renewed faith. Father, thank you for being my strength and my covering. Father, we are glad for each time we worship with you and praise you. We praise you in triumph and in trial, because everything we have you have provided. Great is thy faithfulness unto us. Father, as many of us begin to conclude our January fasts and times of reflection, we ask that you allow the blessings, lessons, and reminders to remain with us. Continue to guide us as we seek your face. Please also continue to reveal to us our purpose in your kingdom. For these and many other blessings, we pray and say thank you. Amen. Amen. Amen.
PS Next week, we will return to John 1. Thank you for journeying with me in January. Amen

Morning Scripture
“Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.” Exodus 18:21 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/exo.18.21.NKJV “But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.” Exodus 18:21 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/exo.18.21.NIV |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you, Lord, for these thy gifts. Father, thank you for this reminder to be selective. To choose to include in our circle those who love you, are truthful, and choose the best for us. Father, as we continue our journey into 2025, guide our hearts so that we are effective and faithful leaders in our homes, communities, and on our jobs. And as we continue our January fast, lead our hearts so that we understand that leadership is a heart mission, not one of control and manipulation. Father, call us to our purpose in you and teach us, we pray, to be good leaders. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. PS. God is awesome, that this is the scripture for today - Inauguration Day. This scripture convicts and reminds us to be selective in who we choose as leaders. Amen. And thank you, Lord. |

Morning Scripture
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” II Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/2co.10.3-6.NKJV “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/2co.10.4.NLT |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father, as we move closer to the end of January, our annual time of reflection, please continue to help us see those things in our lives that hold us back. Guide us to know that with you, our God, we can begin to break the barriers and strongholds of our lives. Father, guide our hearts and minds so that every thought is guided by the love of Christ. Father. We have many strongholds and distractions in our lives that desire to conquer us and separate us from you. Father, we ask that you bind those actions and bring us into alignment with your will for our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen. As I write this I am reminded that - yes - God can zap our troubles away at any moment. But will we appreciate it as much if we don’t have some skin in the game - If we don’t do the work? The more we strive toward God the more we see him in our daily path. Amen |

Morning Scripture
“Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? If anyone is convinced in himself that he is Christ’s, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ’s, even so we are Christ’s.” II Corinthians 10:7 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/2co.10.7.NKJV “Look at the obvious facts. Those who say they belong to Christ must recognize that we belong to Christ as much as they do.” 2 Corinthians 10:7 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/2co.10.7.NLT “You are judging by appearances. If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as they do.” 2 Corinthians 10:7 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/2co.10.7.NIV |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father, thank you for conviction, reflection, and revelation. Father, thank you for reminding us that we are all children of God. Thank you for reminding us that we cannot judge by appearances alone. Father, open our hearts to see you in each of your children. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. I am grateful for this scripture. There was a time when I felt tormented by someone who said they were a Christian; and I was confused because I did not feel that this was God-like behavior. But my mother told me that I could not judge her, that was not my place. I had to look at her through another set of lenses. This is what God is calling us to do. See each other through a different set of lenses. Good. Bad. Indifferent. We are all children of God. So how do we see each other? Ouch. Amen. |

Morning Scripture
“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” II Corinthians 9:6-8 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/2co.9.6-8.NKJV “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/2co.9.8.NLT “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/2co.9.6-8.NIV |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father God, forgive us if we have not sowed diligently into this period of January reflection with our whole heart. Some days were less focused than others; encourage us. Walk with us we pray, as we continue to reset, refocus, and reenergize ourselves in you. There are many things within our personal lives and our community that distract us. But it is our desire to grow closer to You - so that we may reap bountifully, receiving abundant grace in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. Ok…. Walk with me a moment…. I know this prayer may seem a little ‘different’. But when I saw it, my heart said “What you honestly put into this fast and time of reflection is what you get out of it.” Immediately, it made me think of my efforts. I can’t wait for God to zap away my desire to watch the heartwarming cat and dog reels and recipes. I have to actively put down my phone so that He can fill the space with something more productive. We have to open the space for Him to fill it. Am I the only one??? Ouch and Amen. |
