Justice Prevails
Esther 7:1-10
Esther 7:1-10
Montgomery, AL is the poster child for prevailing justice. If you walk or drive downtown Montgomery there are monuments that denote injustice as well as justice. Confederate monuments and civil rights monuments stand within yards of each other. One monument represents a way of thinking that if allowed would take a group or groups of people back to a time that would allow them to be mistreated, abused, overlooked, etc. One monument represents the struggle/struggles to overcome abuse, mistreatment and the ability to call wrong, wrong and righteousness to stand against the evil thoughts and deeds of mankind.
In the Book of Esther at the time of the scripture, there is a plot to annihilate the Jews of that time. Haman, is upset because of Queen Esther’s cousin Mordecai’s disregard for his position on the king’s royal staff. Because Mordecai never recognized Haman’s position, Haman becomes angry and sets a plot to kill Mordecai and the Jews.
Mordecai becomes aware of the plot and makes it known to his cousin Esther. Not only is she Esther but she is Queen Esther. She has a title and a position and importantly she has the opportunity to have the king’s ear.
Queen Esther has the opportunity to bring to the king’s ear the plot against her people. Once made aware of these things the king makes decisions and decrees that allow the Jews to protect themselves against the plot.
When you continue to read, Haman and his family are hanged on the very gallows that were prepared for Mordecai.
Points of Interest:
Hatred – is a dangerous disease and is contagious. People have made opinions about others because of what someone else has said.
Intercession - God places people in positions for His timing. We are called to stand in the gap for people who cannot stand in the gap for themselves.
Protection – God is our protector… Psalm 37:1, Fret not thyself because of evildoers for they shall soon be cut down.
